You’ve undoubtedly seen pictures of Boone Hall Plantation’s famous Avenue of Oaks, where live oak trees planted almost three hundred years ago, Spanish moss draping their boughs, have grown into a gorgeous archway over the drive as you enter the plantation grounds. Claiming “most-photographed-plantation” in America, Boone Hall is much more than gorgeous scenery. It’s a living, breathing working farm as well as one of Charleston’s most-beloved attractions.

Visiting during the holidays is special indeed. You’ll be greeted at the front entrance with fresh holiday arrangements filled with fruit. Every room of the plantation mansion’s main floor is decorated with live trees, adorned with natural decorations – many gathered from the plantation grounds. Linger at each tree and admire the ornaments crafted from sweetgrass, berries, magnolia leaves, and cotton. The fragrance coming from the trees fills the house and can’t help but get you in the Christmas spirit! Tours of the main floor are included with regular admission. More here.

The year is filled with season-related events including the popular Lowcountry Oyster Festival (Feb 6, 2022), Lowcountry Strawberry Festival (April 29 – May 2, 2022), live concerts, a pumpkin patch, and Wine Under the Oaks. U-Pick strawberries are offered each summer as well.

Visit any day and you’re guaranteed a day you will remember! Included in general admission year-round are plantation tractor tours (weather permitting), “Exploring The Gullah Culture” live presentations, guided tours of the mansion’s first floor, the Black History in America exhibit with 9 historical slave dwellings on display as well as historic talks, touring the gardens (see antique roses more than 100 years old) and grounds at your own pace, stable tours, marsh and wildlife viewing and more. Here’s a complete list of what’s offered.

You can purchase fresh produce at the Boone Hall Farms Roadside Produce Stand without entry to the plantation. It’s located at 2434 North Hwy. 17 in Mount Pleasant. Currently it’s open Mon – Sat from 10am til 5pm. Like to pick your own? Select crops are available for Upick depending on the season. You can call 843-856-5366 to learn what is currently available.
