Bush-N-Vine Farm, located in York, SC near Rock Hill and Charlotte, has been in the same family for more than 150 years. It was originally a peach orchard and peach business. Bob Hall took over the operation in 1980 and implemented most of the innovations that turned the land into viable farmland. Since 2010, his son Sam has worked full-time at the farm as well. Over the years, the list of crops grown has increased greatly, and today that list includes many, many fresh fruits and vegetables.

Pick-Your-Own is a popular activity at the farm and during the Summer folks can pick their own blueberries, blackberries, and flowers. As of this writing (mid-June), blueberry and blackberry seasons are underway, and they plan on offering pick-your-own peaches in early July! Late Summer and Fall give way to pick-your-own sunflowers and pumpkins, and the Spring brings strawberry picking. After picking, you’re invited to enjoy a picnic outside, watch bees work in the farm’s observation bee hive, and take a walk on their hiking trail.

Fresh donuts are served most mornings, or come for lunch and enjoy hot dogs or quesadillas. Their Farm Cafe is open Monday – Saturday, and also sells ice cream, strawberry and peach slushies, and Blendies. Click here for the menu and schedule.

The farm stands offer an abundance of wonderful fruits and veggies and this time of year (June through the summer) you can purchase already-picked blueberries, blackberries, cantaloupes, nectarines, peaches, plums, watermelons, basil, butter beans, crowder peas, cucumbers, eggplant, green beans, okra, peppers, squash, sweet corn, tomatoes, and zucchini. Imagine the delicious dishes you can create with ingredients like these – fresh from the Earth!

Slices of Summer gives people a chance to sample what’s in season, held each Saturday from mid-June through August from 9am – 2pm. Bush-N-Vine Farm’s Fall Festival is held on Saturdays during the fall and visitors can pick pumpkins, enjoy hot donuts, apple cider, wagon rides, and more. (Pumpkin picking is available Monday – Saturday.)

The farm also offers a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture or Community Sponsored Agriculture) Program that allows customers to purchase a weekly basket of fresh seasonal produce. You can choose the size basket you’d like and the season(s) you prefer. They make it easy – there are quite a few places where you can pick up your basket each week, stretching from Gastonia to Charlotte to Rock Hill to Lancaster. Learn more here. Instead of buying produce at the supermarket, consider buying directly from the farmer and help a family-run small business!

The farm and its farm stand are open year-round, Monday – Saturday, with additional farm stands in Rock Hill and Lake Wylie also offering fresh produce.
