A South Carolina Century Farm, Denver Downs is located in Anderson County, in South Carolina’s Upstate. It has been in the Garrison family since 1869, originally established as a cotton farm. After World War II, T. Ed Garrison Jr. bought 10 Jersey cows and began dairy farming, growing the herd to about 300 milking cows. In 1994, the Garrisons sold the cows and switched to a crop-growing farm, with corn, soybeans, small grains, veggies, and beef cattle. This is the farm today.
The Garrisons love to share their farming legacy and their belief in agriculture, as well as watch others enjoy animals and life on the farm. They embarked on a journey to bring the public (through agritourism) to their operation, and today Denver Downs is synonymous with school field trips, their Fall Festival, and many springtime and summer events. They also have a farm market.
Denver Downs Farm Fall Festival
Saturday September 24 – Sunday November 13, 2022
The Fall Festival is a huge gathering of friends and families each autumn. In 2022, the Fall Festival runs from September 24 through November 13. Both their corn maze and pumpkin patch are among the largest in the Southeastern U.S. You’ll find live music every day of the Fall Festival. There are lots of friendly farm animals to interact with and on Friday and Saturday nights, crackly bonfires to enjoy! They have over 30 fun family activities for everyone to enjoy no matter their age! They also serve festival food that you’ll love – hot dogs, burgers, cotton candy, popcorn, chicken fingers, and much more! Especially delightful, the main stage lights up each night with the Singing Pumpkin Lights! Three giant jack-o-lanterns will lip-sync pop songs – and visitors are invited to join a dance party on stage during the concert! If you want a little adventure, check out their Flashlight Maze – 12 acres big! They have a QR Code Game that can be played in the maze, as well as story points that visitors navigate while “mazing”! Top completion times are posted on Facebook.
