This small winery in the Upstate of South Carolina near Easley creates award-winning wines from fruit that is grown on-site as well as from local growers in the Greenville area. Blueberries, strawberries, grapes, peaches, raspberries, and blackberries are harvested from their 2.5 acres and transformed into wines including Traditional Mead, fruit-flavored meads, fruit wines like Peach Black Cherry, White Nectarine and Raspberry. They also produce wines from muscadine grapes and recently introduced Jacquez, made from Black Spanish grapes – it pairs nicely with dark chocolate!
Lazy Bear Winery began in earnest in 2015 after the winery owners won local, national, and international wine competitions including Wine magazine’s international competition! Their wines are excellent, and they continue to develop better and better methods.
Wine tastings are offered at the Winery on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from noon until 6 pm. $5 for 5 wines, $10 for 10 wines and $15 to taste them all. Bottles are available from $12 – $20 and glasses of wine are available by the glass for $5.
