Beautiful fresh greens from Sal’s!

As a seventh-generation homesteader, Sallie enjoys sharing her knowledge of South Carolina gardening. In addition to offering advice when you come to purchase garden supplies, plants, and seeds, Sal offers gardening classes.

On February 27, she has organized a workshop by Heidi Lux which will instruct participants in building a self-composting “New Earth Gardener” low maintenance high yield raised bed. Come ready to work and learn. Tickets sale proceeds go to Sal’s Greenhouse Fund (Sal is pulling the funds together to build a new greenhouse). Learn more about Heidi here.

A personalized garden consultation is also available for gardeners who’d like Sal to visit their property. $150 an hour (must be in the Columbia area). More here.

Here’s another great way to get started. Order Sal’s Garden Box. The box is an all-in-one gardening course delivered to your door every month. It will supply you with everything you need in order to make gardening fun and easy! The Box provides you with local varieties of seeds and products picked especially for South Carolina’s unique soil and climate.  It also offers detailed instructions and online help.

Each box is custom crafted with seasonally themed collections for $27.00 every month. You can cancel your subscription at any time. They only put together 100 boxes each month, so you may have to wait for a slot to open. More info on this here. Right now, for non-subscribers, you can get a February box for $35, with everything included to grow a great pot of vegetable soup! More here.
