The Gourmet Shop, a favorite in popular Five Points since 1979, is celebrating Bastille Day (commemorating the Storming of the Bastille, a military fortress and prison, on July 14th in 1790, and the unity of the French people) all week long with delectable goodies from our friends across the pond.

They’ll be offering specials, tastings and features that showcase their love for all things French! Cheeses, wines, cookware and more… and there will be Parisian features in the cafe.

They offered a sneek peak on Facebook of some of the items they’ll carry this week: “The “Petite Dejeuner” features Rodolphe Le Meunier butter, Jambon de Bayonne, fresh fruit, honey & our rhubarb raspberry preserves with sliced baguette on the side A sweet treat of Beignet L’amour. French beignets stuffed with a chocolate hazelnut filling. I’ll take two, merci! Our Bastille Board with an assortment of celebrated French cheeses & meats”
