Deep Water Vineyard

On your next trip to the Charleston area, stop by this charming vineyard on Wadmalaw Island. Their 48 acres features 7 miles (I know, right?) of vines!

Remaining true to their predecessors’ Southern roots, Deep Water Vineyard grows muscadine grapes, a fruit native to the Southeastern United States. They produce authentic muscadine wine, five different labels from four varieties of grapes. In addition to their 100% South Carolina grown and bottled wines, they also offer the product of a partnership they have with a grower in California.  The grower ships its grapes to Deep Water Vineyard and then Deep Water vints and bottles them based on lots of their own dedicated taste-testing. They’re proud to offer an increasing list of these viniferous grape single varietals and blends.

Deep Water offers self-guided tours and wine tastings on Tuesdays – Saturdays from 10 am – 5 pm. For $15.00, you’re able to choose 6 samples from their current wine list to try and you’ll get a souvenir wine glass to remember them by. They also sell bottles of their wines. On Saturdays, they have a Weekend Wine-Down from 12 pm – 4 pm with music, wine, and a food truck. All guests are welcome to stroll through the 7 miles of vines in their vineyard as a self-guided tour. Don’t forget to get your South Carolina Agritourism Booklet stamped while you’re there!

Deep Water Vineyard has 4 main events each year, as well as wine pairings. Here are two items on their calendar that you may want to include on yours:

Valentine’s Wine and Chocolate Pairing

Saturday February 12, 2022

Our first pairing of the year comes as love is in the air. Valentine’s weekend is a great time to try the chocolatey flavors of love paired expertly with our wines. The flavors featured in this pairing will be sure to set off some sparks:

  • (New Vintage) Magnolia with a Caramel Sea Salt Truffle
  • Creamsicle Mead with an Orange Cream Truffle
  • (New Vintage) Sea Island Red with a Cherry Truffle
  • High Tide with a Red Wine Syrup Truffle

Come for the wine and chocolate and stay to explore the grounds, listen to our friends Seth & Sara as they take over the lawn playing great covers and even greater originals. Don’t forget to grab lunch from La’Son Anchor Grill.  Visit the animals, stroll around the garden, and enjoy the Lowcountry nature and lifestyle as you dive deep at the vineyard. Pairings will be in groups of 25 people every hour and tickets are only $20/pp (which includes 4 wines, 4 chocolates, and a commemorative wine glass). Tickets are available right here while supplies last, and will sell out quickly.
