Restaurants on Lake Murray

Looking for a place to watch the sun set over the lake, a perch to see the boats go by or to admire a big-water view? Lake Murray, the sparkling jewel of South Carolina, has lots of options for just those things. Here are our faves:

Liberty Taproom on the Lake: owned by Homegrown Hospitality of Charleston, this two-story restaurant near Irmo features three outdoor decks (two covered and one in the sun). Open every day from 11am. Menu options range from sandwiches and pizza to signature steaks and house favorites. Menu here.

Buffalo Creek Marina: This is old-style lakeside fun. Lots of boats, lots of fun folks and dining on the deck. They serve hot dogs, sandwiches, breakfast (til 11am) and are open seven days a week. Located near Prosperity. More on Facebook.

Rusty Anchor and Catfish Johnny’s: Located beside Lighthouse Marina in the Ballentine/Chapin area. Rusty Anchor offers indoor and outdoor dining with a menu that spans sandwiches to great entrees. (If you think the menu looks like a J. Peters’ menu, you’re right… it is!) Catfish Johnny’s is on the deck and is casual fare with baskets of fried catfish and wings and sandwiches. See menus and more here.

Fiddler Blues: Located next to Black’s Bridge on Hwy 391 near Prosperity. This newer addition to lakeside dining has received great reviews for its food and its views of the lake. Dine outside or indoors. Open Tuesday – Saturday. Visit their website here.

Big Man’s Marina: Hwy. 391 at Black’s Bridge. Offers breakfast and lunch seven days a week, including great burgers and homemade chicken salad. Come by boat and get your food for a delicious day on the lake. Visit their Facebook page here.
